This presentation is particularly important since the main stream unfounded recommendation is to increase the intake of processed fiber in order to prevent these diseases, whilst epidiological studies are showing exactly the opposite.

The active substance is extracted from the venom of a Cuban endemic scorpion, Rhofalorus Junceus, which has been studied by a multidisciplinary group of researchers for more than 10 years.

The qualities of the venom are:

-              stimulates apoptosis and necrosis of cancerous cells

-              inhibits angiogenesis

-              analgesic and anti-inflammatory

So, not only the venom attacks pathogenic cells without damaging healthy cells, it also stops the cancer feeding mechanism of developing whilst it reduces pain and inflammation, improving patients life quality significantly.

Comparatively, the homeopathic remedy is as effective as the venom and has shown very good results not only as isolated therapy as well as complementary to chemotherapy, which successful results were increased.  It was also noted to decrease these drugs adverse effects.

Cuba has been under an economical and trade embargo by the USA government, which makes purchase of substances and technology very difficult, resulting in delayed and expensive research.  Cuban doctors make a great effort to find alternative cures to drugs resulting in natural therapies, including homeopathy, being highly developed in the country.  Cuban patients are offered treatment for free.

It is interesting what can be achieved by a health system directed to find solutions and to help the whole of the population rather than developing drugs aiming at profit.

Hopefully, the generous dissemination of this remedy (or the scorpion concentrate, as they are willing to export) will offer an undeniable alternative to nasty chemicals and radiation.

Most scientists would state categorically that homeopathy is a scientific impossibility. Who would disagree, as the explanation that is currently provided to support homeopathy makes very little sense. How is it possible that a solution that contains no chemical atoms causes a biological reaction? All of our basic understanding of science screams out that this is patently impossible.

But what if all that we have been taught at school, at university and at work is in fact only part of the truth. What if there was a missing part of our education that provides the missing link that makes subjects such as homeopathy scientifically obvious. What if there is much more to our body than simply chemicals.

It took me two years of research to uncover this hidden area of science. Once I did, the scientific explanation for many controversial areas of science, including homeopathy, became uncontroversial. If we look at homeopathy from a completely different area of science other than chemistry then we can begin to understand how homeopathy really works. It is just like one of those intellectual games that people play, where the answer is so obvious once you know it, but impossible if you don’t

Take the following puzzle:

You are in front of three light switches only one of which turns on a light in the adjacent room. You only have two attempts to find out which of the three switches work. Without being able to see the effect of the switches it is impossible to know which of them work, it is a mathematical impossibility. However, by using a different area of science, the solution is incredibly simple. The answer lies with the heat generated from the light and not the light itself. If you turn on a switch and then turn it off again and go and feel if the light is hotter then in two attempts you will know exactly which of the light switches turns on the light.

Now if we turn back to homeopathy, we have to look at it from the same idea and say that the idea that chemicals are the issue is irrelevant to solving the problem.

It is not the chemicals in the solution that cause a biological change but the vibrations that emanated from the chemicals, which have an affect. The massive missing part of our education is simply the concept of “vibrations” and everything that they affect. In the puzzle above, the light caused the bulb to heat up through vibrations and so two ideas were working at the same time, light and heat. The same is true with every aspect of our body, it works on two levels, a chemical one and a vibrational one, they go hand in hand, one does not work without the other.

As every electron vibrates uniquely and everything is made up of electrons then it is incontrovertible to state that everything vibrates, absolutely everything. So if everything vibrates, it would seem fairly logical that one vibration must affect another. Just take sound as an example, a choir all singing together sounds very different from a school playground.

The same thing happens in our body, you get choirs in parts of our body where it is healthy vibrationally and noisy playgrounds where our body’s organs are malfunctioning causing vibrational disharmony and sickness.

This idea is hugely controversial as it contradicts everything that we have been taught. The tragedy however, is that science has proven it to be true in thousands of different studies, but has not promoted is as it implies that pharmaceutical drugs are not the only cure in town.

So if vibrations are the answer what about the big idea that is put forward by homeopaths that is it also to do with the concept that water has some sort of a memory to provide evidence that homeopathy works scientifically.

This is total nonsense and provides yet more ammunition to everyone who wants to dismiss a perfectly sensible area of science as pseudo-science. WATER DOES NOT HAVE A MEMORY. Of course it doesn’t. Water has amazing functions but memory is not one of them.

Water has the amazing property that enables it to change its vibrational pattern to the chemical or environment in which it is in. This is an incredibly important point and one that needs to be remembered, water is a chameleon, adapting itself to its environment vibrationally.

As an example, in one experiment, if you treated a cup of water with a specific vibrational frequency the water would change itself to that specific vibration and it would stay like that forever. It would only change if it came across a different vibration.

This vibrated water if ingested directly and instantly affects our body’s biological functions. Depending on the vibrational frequency of the water, different illnesses can be treated.

The conclusion from my research is that if you add a chemical into a solution and then remove all traces of that chemical from the solution, the specific chemical vibrational remains which has the same biological affect as if the chemical were still in the water. The body recognises the new vibration and reacts accordingly.

This idea has radical implications for our health as it means that not only do we have to question the water that we drink but also our environment in which we live which is saturated with man made vibrations from all of the electronic machinery that we use in our every day lives. What damage are they in fact doing to our health?

So hopefully, in these few paragraphs I have shown that it is scientifically logical for homeopathic treatments to work, through the properties of vibrations. The problem that I have, however, is this: how do homeopathic treatments work when they are in solid pill form. For this I do not have the answers. I can only confirm that homeopathy is a very simple science in principle when it is in a solution and should be embraced by the scientific community.

If you take a horseshoe crab off the beach, and you fly it all the way across the continent, and you drop it into a sloped cage, it will scramble up the floor of the cage as the tide is rising on its home shores, and it’ll skitter down again right as the water is receding thousands of miles away.  It’ll do this for weeks, until it gradually loses the plot.  These crabs have internal cycles that correspond, usually, with what’s going on around it.

Humans also have this ability and we call it the body clock.  You can see this most clearly when you take away someone’s watch and you shut them into a bunker, deep underground, for a couple of months.  Volunteers usually came out raving about their productive time in the hole.  So, no matter how atypical these subjects would have to be, they all show the same thing.  They get up just a little bit later every day — say 15 minutes or so — and they drift all the way around the clock like this over the course of the weeks.  And so, in this way, we know that they are working on their own internal clocks, rather than somehow sensing the day outside.

Our body clock is incredibly important in our lives.  It’s a huge driver for culture, and it’s the most underrated force on our behavior.

We evolved as a species near the equator, and so we’re very well-equipped to deal with 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness.  We’ve spread to every corner of the globe and in some areas we have perpetual daylight in summer and 24 hours of darkness in winter.  The culture of northern aboriginal culture is traditionally highly seasonal.  In winter, there’s a lot of sleeping going on.  You enjoy your family life inside.  And in summer, it’s almost manic hunting and working activity very long hours, very active.

So, what would our natural rhythm look like?  What would our sleeping patterns be in the sort of ideal sense?

When people are living without any sort of artificial light at all, they sleep twice every night.  They go to bed around 8:00 pm. until midnight and then again, they sleep from about 2:00 am until sunrise.  And in-between, they have a couple of hours of sort of meditative quiet in bed.  And during this time, there’s a surge of prolactin, the likes of which a modern day never sees.

The people in these studies report feeling so awake during the daytime, that they realize they’re experiencing true wakefulness for the first time in their lives.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease of major importance in the tropics where the incidence peaks in rainy seasons. Natural disasters represent a big challenge to Leptospirosis prevention strategies especially in endemic regions. Vaccination is an effective option but of reduced effectiveness in emergency situations. Homeoprophylactic interventions might help to control epidemics by using highly-diluted pathogens to induce protection in a short time scale. We report the results of a very large-scale homeoprophylaxis (HP) intervention against Leptospirosis in a dangerous epidemic situation in three provinces of Cuba in 2007.

METHODS: Forecast models were used to estimate possible trends of disease incidence. A homeoprophylactic formulation was prepared from dilutions of four circulating strains of Leptospirosis. This formulation was administered orally to 2.3 million persons at high risk in an epidemic in a region affected by natural disasters. The data from surveillance were used to measure the impact of the intervention by comparing with historical trends and non-intervention regions.

RESULTS: After the homeoprophylactic intervention a significant decrease of the disease incidence was observed in the intervention regions. No such modifications were observed in non-intervention regions. In the intervention region the incidence of Leptospirosis fell below the historic median. This observation was independent of rainfall.

CONCLUSIONS: The homeoprophylactic approach was associated with a large reduction of disease incidence and control of the epidemic. The results suggest the use of HP as a feasible tool for epidemic control, further research is warranted.

Em meu resgate veio o “Connection Parenting” de Pam Leo, mais um daqueles raros exemplos que demonstram quão pode uma mãe moderna beneficiar de umas quantas leituras.

Apesar do seu formato ao estilo de um manual escolar que poderá irritar as mentes mais académicas, a sumarização das ideias, os exemplos e as instruções fazem deste livro de auto-ajuda um “no-fuss” precioso amigo nos momentos de dúvida.

Ultimamente tenho-me deparado com situações de gestão de crise que me fizeram lembrar um capítulo específico do livro e a qual gostaria de partilhar convosco, voltando a trazer este tema à baila.

Resumindo, Leo afirma que nas relações com os filhos a coação deve dar lugar à conexão e que o amor deve substituir o medo.  Para crescerem saudáveis, as crianças necessitam de criar uma conexão com pelo menos um adulto, criando assim uma relação forte entre pai-filho.  Estabelecemos conexão com os nossos filhos respeitando-os, dando ouvidos aos seus sentimentos, “enchendo a chávena do amor”, comunicando  e descodificando o seu comportamento, o que não pode facilmente ser feito sem antes nós, os adultos, termos estabelecido uma boa conexão com as nossas próprias necessidades.

O ponto que eu gostaria de focar é o da dor emocional que os seres humanos curam ao libertarem os sentimentos de dor numa resposta natural e espontânea como o choro.  Acontece que nós, os adultos, temos a mania de interferir com este processo (assim como com tantos outros) quando observamos crianças a chorarem ou numa crise de frustração e raiva, o que por sua vez as leva a desligar essa resposta natural o que resulta no acumular de sentimentos reprimidos.

Como do ponto de vista holístico a repressão de sentimentos leva à supressão do sistema e a longo prazo ao desenvolvimento de condições crónicas e sistema imunológico comprometido, o tema da auto-cura emocional nas crianças é-me especialmente importante em clínica.

Chamo a atenção para exemplos de atitudes que resultam do facto de não sabermos como lidar com a dor dos nossos filhos e que bloqueam o seu processo de cura da dor emocional:

Invalidação: “Vá, vá, não ha razão para chorares.”

Vergonha: “Não chores. Não sejas bebé.  Já és um homenzinho/menina grande. Não sejas mariquinhas.”

Ameaça: “Já te vou dar razão para chorares.”

Aplacação ou compensação: “Eu arranjo-te um novo.”

Distração: “Olha, toma uma bolachinha.” “Toma a maminha.”

Isolamento: “Vai para o teu quarto até parares de chorar.”

Ignorando: verbal ou não-varbal, “Não falo contigo até parares de chorar.”

Excedendo: “Achas que isso é mau? Olha o que me aconteceu/ o que aconteceu àquele menino.”

Culpabilizando: “Tu tens tanto; não devias ficar triste por uma coisa como esta.”

Humor: a criança deu uma queda, “Vê la se magoaste o chão!”

Estas reacções transmitem todas as mesmas mensagens às nossas crianças: “Desliga a capacidade de expressão e libertação dos teus sentimentos de dor.”

Tendo nós próprios passado por bloqueios nos nossos processos emocionais, ultrapassar esta pre-programação e ajudar os nossos filhos na sua expressão pode ser difícil ou mesmo confuso.

Será melhor que ao depararmo-nos com a dor dos nossos filhos estejamos presentes no momento e não nos apressemos a “mudar o mundo e a salvá-los daquela situação”.

Leo lembra as razões pelas quais as crianças choram:

•         Se uma pessoa chora é porque existe mágoa.

•         Ninguém sabe o que é estar na pele de outra pessoa, logo não deveremos julgar que o outro não tem razões para chorar.

•         Podemos não saber o que está a causar a dor, mas sabemos ouvir.

•         Para a pessoa é importante que oiçamos, não que compreendamos.

•         Quando as crianças se magoam precisam de se expressarem e libertarem os sentimentos para curarem essa dor.

Revisitar esta lista tem-me ajudado a manter as coisas em perspectiva não só com crianças, tanto no dia-a-dia em família e amigos como em trabalho, por isso aqui a deixo, como um ponto de foco e meditação.
